The Collections Department attempts to incorporate current scientific research. A key focus is on biomimetics. The topics of biomimetics and mechanical engineering are represented by objects of automation, robotics and sensor technology. The history and processing of synthetic materials along with products made of plastic and measuring tools are part of our collections in the area of synthetics production.
Furthermore, the company BASF in Ludwigshafen has left its extensive collection on magnetic sound recording history to the TECHNOSEUM. The Museum also houses numerous items and documents referring to ammonium synthesis, which was mainly developed in the Rhine-Neckar region. Especially it is due to the nuclear research centre in Karlsruhe that the museum has available exhibits on the history of atomic research.
